OK, first I'm going to admit this is a rather subjective issue. The Caffeine Free Drinks I think tastes best may not be the one you think tastes best but . . . We're gonna give it a go anyway. I actually like the taste of water myself.

But first lets look at some reason why you'd want to give up caffeine in the first place. There are a lot of reasons to give up caffeine. The original question that had me thinking about giving up caffeine was from a young woman who had recently found out she was pregnant.

Most doctors recommend you do away with caffeine while you're pregnant for the safety of your unborn child. One of the reasons is because caffeine crosses the placenta to your baby. So when you have caffeine, your baby has caffeine.

But that caffeine we love so much is a stimulant - it increases blood pressure and heart rate. It also works as a diuretic, increasing the frequency of urination and dehydrating the body. So for starters, if you're drinking soda because you're thirsty, you're going to get even more thirsty - rather than less.

Notice how all the diets you find tell you to give up caffeine? Your body needs fluid to burn that fat and to remove the toxins you build up when you burn the fat. If you are dehydrated, you can't lose weight very well.

But sometimes you just want a soda. Sometimes you just need something that makes you feel like you're not completely deprived of all the things you once loved. So which one tastes best?

My first choice would be a soda that never had caffeine in it in the first place. Like a Sprite or 7-Up. I like Fresca, which is a diet drink so it would be unsuitable for anyone who is pregnant, but these drinks all taste good for the very occasional soda. Sparkling (carbonated) flavored water is also a great choice. The brand La Croix is a favorite of many - and there are a ton of flavors.

Both Coke and Pepsi have caffeine free choices, though I'll have to admit without the caffeine these two giants lose their punch. To me, I'd rather have water than either of these. But that's just my opinion. There may be others out there who love these two as caffeine free.

There are also caffeine free Root Beers. Many have said these are quite good and if you like Root Beer, this might be an option as well. And of course decaffeinated coffee is a good choice too. Naturally decaffeinated coffee would be best but remember, decaffeinated coffees still have a little residual caffeine in them.

There are not many people I've known who haven't wondered at one time or another how to get rid of love handles or how to get rid of belly fat. Those of us who have love handles, also known by other colorful names like spare tire, belly fat, and pot-belly, find very little to love about those handles. That belly says we've been letting ourselves go to pot.

Love handles and belly fat are basically nice ways to describe the fat that accumulates on the lower abdomen and on each side of the waist. But any way you view it, those love handles are warning signs of undesired weight gain. Yes, let's call it what it is, that belly fat is just unwanted weight. And the only way to get rid of love handles and to get rid of belly fat is to lose weight. You may have the greatest abs in the world, but if they’re covered by fat, nobody will ever know.

That means you've got to find a reliable eating plan that will both nourish your body while reducing that pot-belly and those love handles. Finding reliable weight lose information can be an absolutely discouraging endeavor since there are quite literally hundreds of weight loss plans on the market today that make all types of preposterous claims.

First, you need to find a healthy plan you can stick to. To reduce your overall body fat and keep it off, you need to find a healthy eating plan. It's tempting, when you're trying to lose weight, to skip meals to reduce your caloric intake, but a better--and easier--way to cut calories is to find a reliable diet that fits your tastes and lifestyle; one you can adopt for life. So to prevent or reduce excess weight around the abdomen, or wherever you're genetically predisposed to deposit it, you need a healthy diet.

Compare the different diets based on the type foods you enjoy, and the ones you already know pack on the pounds now. Don't be tempted by plans offering huge weight loss over a short period of time. A plan offering fast results is usually not a healthy one, and you want a plan you can stick with for the rest of your life. You want a healthy diet that will keep the weight off.

Once you start losing body fat, you can firm up your body by exercising. The main thing to remember though is that spare tires and pot-bellies indicate too much body fat. And losing body fat is the best (read only) way to get rid of love handles and to get rid of belly fat.

If you want to lose weight then find the right diet for you, and then get up off the couch and go for a walk, take a ride on your bike, or go to the gym. When you maintain a healthy diet and institute a regular cardiovascular workout routine, your love handles and belly fat will gradually reduce without any particular special exercise to get rid of them. So, there you have it: the skinny on how to get rid of love handles and belly fat.

There are hundreds of diets out there, and it can be mind boggling to keep track of them all. But whether you're trying to lose weight, or are simply wanting to stay healthy by eating a healthy diet, you're going to have to weed through them to find the one that's best for you.

The truth is, there are a lot of very healthy diets out there. And unless you have some underlying health issues that require you eat a certain type diet, probably the best all round diet on the market today is the The Diet Solution.

The Diet Solution is high in fruits and vegetables, low fat meat, fish and complex carbohydrates. And research shows The Diet Solution excels at maintaining your blood sugar at constant levels. And for those of you who are saying my blood sugar is fine, I'm not worried about it. It's those spikes in your blood sugar and consequently your insulin levels that make you so doggone hungry.

In addition to making you hungry, high blood sugar and caffeine levels as well as aged fats are the culprits when it comes to high cholesterol. And though your cholesterol levels may be fine now, as you grow older, it will become more and more difficult to maintain them. And after all, we're all about eating a healthy diet.

But The Diet Solution is not the only healthy diet around. All of the following diets are both reduced carbohydrates and reduced fat, which is the basic criteria for a healthy diet. G.I. Diet (Glycemic Index Diet), the Fat Loss 4 Idiots, South Beach Diet, and the Zone Diet

Eat 4 meals per day, each separated by 2.5 hours: This balances blood sugar levels and is one of the keys to better health. This is also lined out for you in the meal plans.

Prepare meals at home: as the saying goes, most people don't plan to fail on their diets, they fail to plan.

Rotation of meals: once again, this is all planned out for you so all you have to do is follow instructions.

Avoid excessive condiments: Keeping meals as simple as possible avoids additional, calories. (Do you know how many calories ketchup and ranch dressing have?)

Stop eating at the right time: You don't have to count calories on this diet, but no meal marathons either.

Drink water: you expected this one right? You should be drinking 8-10 10 ounce glasses of water each and every day to help you lose weight.

Beverages: to maximize weight loss, anything you drink should contain no more than 10 calories per glass. (If you follow rule 7, who would want more to drink?)

Walking: 2 30-minute sessions of walking are recommended for each day but if time is a problem, these can be replaced with a single 45-minute session.

Avoid sweets: no big surprise here. We all know you can't lose much weight chowing down on a bunch of sweets.

There is so much information available about losing weight, so why do people continue to make the same mistakes over and over? I'm not talking about the unexpected slice of birthday cake it would have been an insult to refuse; I'm talking about big mistakes that lead to diet failure and ultimate defeat.

Understanding the problem can help you develop a plan that will lead to permanent weight loss. Here are the three most common mistakes we make on our diets:

The All Or Nothing Attitude

Dieters who have an all or nothing approach to dieting will pick out a diet and before they begin, they'll gut their kitchen looking for anything that doesn't fit the diet plan they've chosen and fill their trashcans. They have every intention of being 'the perfect dieter' .

And so they will be, for a whole day, maybe even two or three days. In fact a very few intense, driven individuals will actually make it week or even a couple of weeks. But then, invariably, something happens that keeps them from adhering to their diet plan. And from that moment on, the whole thing is ruined in their eyes and there is no hope. It's over. Then they binge shop. They go to the grocery store and buy all those things they threw out the week before, proceeding to gain back the weight they lost, as fast as possible.

If you see yourself in this description, you need to decide if you really want to lose weight, or do you just want to take off a few pounds so you can gain them back. The way to lose weight is to make a few little changes in your diet and to slowly lose the weight.

The Attitude of Sacrifice

Another mistake would be to view your diet as a time of sacrifice. You won't allow yourself to eat any of the things you so enjoy until you reach your goal weight. A sort of penance you must suffer for having gained the weight in the first place. And this may work for you . . . and you may lose the weight successfully, but of course as soon as you reach your goal, you're gonna gain it right back when you allow yourself to go back to your old ways. It would be better to allow yourself to have a small quantity now and again rather than making it a forbidden food. Your diet should be more about learning a new healthier way to eat.

Goal Failure

Setting goals you can't reasonably achieve is detrimental to any diet. You can't expect to lose 3 years of weight gain in 3 weeks. Your goals should be realistic, specific and in writing. A great goal would be to lose one and a half to two pounds a week for the next month and then a pound a week thereafter. Then track your progress and you'll see yourself slowly but steadily progressing toward your goal.

If any of these scenarios sound like you, don't worry. The point is, you can begin again - now. It doesn't matter if you just ate a row of Oreo cookies; starting right now you can start eating healthy. Learn from your mistakes and your successes and don't use your mistakes as an excuse to give up. Your overall goal should be to become healthy. The great shape will follow. If you enjoy food in moderation and eat healthy; you'll meet and exceed your goals.

Because most of us have a richly mixed ancestry, few of us really know what type foods best satisfy our bodies. While some of us respond better with a diet higher in carbohydrates, others of us are more satisfied with a protein rich diet.

Why Does It Matter?

If a person needing more protein were to go on a low-fat diet, they would probably be hungry - constantly - or would become hungry more quickly after eating. Conversely, if you are a person who requires more carbohydrates to feel satisfied and you go on a low carb diet, you will feel weighed down by your diet and often constipated.

Get It Wrong and It Won't Work.

In either scenario, the likelihood of your staying committed to any diet plan if you are constantly hungry, bloated or constipated is extremely low. You are virtually destined to fail. You need to choose the best diet for your body type.

Take a few days to find out whether your body needs more carbohydrates or more protein. If you already know whether your body needs more carbohydrates or more protein, click the link.

Here's What You Do

Tomorrow for lunch eat a nice healthy meal, with equal amounts of protein and carbohydrates. No simple carbohydrates (ie, no cookies, crackers, white bread, potatoes or sugar), if you have bread, it must be 100% whole wheat and no sodas or fruit juices of any kind. And last but not least, don't over eat. Eat only until you're comfortably satisfied.

Then an hour later, write down how you feel and what you ate.

Do you feel great, or are you hungry, sleepy, tired, bloated, grumpy or do you have a stuffy nose. Do the same thing two hours after lunch and then again three hours after lunch.

Now, Check Your Results

If you wrote down sleepy, tired or hungry at any of the intervals (and didn't over eat) tomorrow, try having a little more protein and fewer carbohydrates, percentage wise.

If you were bloated or grumpy, or if your lunch seems to be heavy on your stomach, try for a few more carbohydrates and less protein.

And if you had a stuffy nose, you might want to omit dairy products if you had any, and if that doesn't solve the problem, try eliminating wheat products.

Your goal is to feel satisfied, energetic and well able to coop with your afternoon. If you feel sluggish, bloated, hungry, tired or out of sorts after lunch you may resort to extra caffeine, snacks or you may just suffer through, making mistakes you could have avoided if you'd felt better.

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-1995931949892781";
/* 468x60, created 10/29/09 */

So what does this tell us?

If you need more carbohydrates, you will probably do best on a low fat diet. This would include most of your calorie counting diets, Weight Watchers, DASH and the Ornish diet. (To calculate the number of calories you should take in to lose weight click here.) These diets will give you the carbohydrates your body craves.

If you need more protein, you should look at a low-carb diet, such as the Atkins Diet. This will help balance your blood sugar and keep you from feeling hungry all the time.

And if you're like most of us, you're somewhere in the middle and you need a reduced carbohydrate diet without going low carb, the G.I. Diet (Glycemic Index Diet), the Idiot Proof Diet, South Beach Diet, The Diet Solution, The Mediterranean Diet and the Zone Diet will be more effective for you.
