The Atkins Diet Review
Consumer Rating
The best selling author of "The Atkins Diet", Dr. Robert Atkins, who has written a number of bestseller books, advocates a low carbohydrate diet with emphasis on the benefits of protein and the dangers of carbohydrates.
The Atkins Diet is a low carbohydrate diet. The diet proceeds in phases - with the first and strictest, lasting two weeks. This phase is primarily to lower the dieters blood sugar; which serves to keep hunger and cravings at bay. The second phase, which is fairly easy by comparison, lasts until you reach your goal weight. The third and final stage is the maintenance phase.
As with most diets, the Atkins Diet encourages the intake of eight glasses of water a day, along with lean meats of any type in phase one, with nuts and low glycemic vegetables added in phases two and three.
The Atkins Diet follows recipes that are low carbohydrate, and where your protein is the center around which all meals and snacks are planned.
Recent studies endorse low carb dieting. While much has been said good and bad about the Atkins diet, recent studies have proved yet again that people on low-carb diets lose the most weight and have the greatest and most significant improvement in blood cholesterol and triglycerides levels.
